Project Description > The City of Raleigh received funding from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT)'s Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Grant Initiative to develop a Bicycle Plan. Greenways Incorporated is leading a Consulting Team to conduct extensive fieldwork, evaluating the current bicycling conditions and creating a Bicycle Level of Service (BLOS) for Raleigh roadways. The goal of the inventory and analysis will be to identify gaps in the bicycle network and opportunities for bicycle facility development.

Greenways Incorporated will lead an open, participatory process with residents of Raleigh through public workshops and an online comment form. We will generate recommendations based on our evaluation and City staff and public input. These recommendations will improve connectivity and create a network of bicycle routes. We will develop a prioritization of facilities for implementation to guide the City of Raleigh. We will address programming, operations, maintenance, and funding issues as well. Our project work will be completed by the end of 2008.
