Todd Peterson recently graduated with a 4.0 from the University of New Orleans Masters in Urban Planning program with a concentration in land use and transportation planning. He joined Greenways Incorporated to use his skills as a multi-modal transportation planner, working with clients ranging from major metropolitan communities, to neighborhood and community organizations to develop alternative transportation and to improve sustainability.
While working on his Masters Degree, he was employed with Steps to a Healthier Louisiana in the New Orleans Department of Public Works as an assistant urban planning specialist and the Louisiana Network Organizer for the Safe Routes to Schools Partnership. Todd worked with the Office of Recovery Management in planning and developing the targeted areas for recovery, redevelopment, and renewal for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Before moving to New Orleans, Todd traveled to many countries throughout the world with his previous career. This hands-on experience provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of multimodal transportation and public transportation systems, in addition to providing him with knowledge of how to work with a diverse range of clients in many different cultures.
Most recently, as the bicycle and pedestrian coordinator for the City of Winston Salem, Todd was responsible for all bicycle and pedestrian projects within the metropolitan planning area. His projects included managing the installation of new bike lanes, bike racks, sidewalks, and greenways. He was also responsible for leading subcommittees that report to the transportation advisory council, attending weekly citizen advocacy meetings and regularly meeting with the heads of various interdepartmental groups.
Currently, Todd is assisting with all greenway, bicycle and pedestrian planning projects at Greenways Incorporated.
