Project Description > In December of 2009, the Town of Southern Pines commissioned with Greenways Incorporated and Henderson Consulting to prepare a comprehensive bicycle transportation plan. The Town of Southern Pines was selected by NCDOT as a recipient in the most recent cycle of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Grant Program. This program matches funds from NCDOT with selected local municipalities to aid in improving bicycle and pedestrian planning efforts in North Carolina.
Greenways Incorporated is working with Town staff, NCDOT staff, a project steering committee, and local residents to develop the draft plan. So far, more than 350 residents filled out comment forms for this plan, and more than 100 have participated in public workshops.
